Top 5 Summer Movies of 2014

I haven't been writing in awhile because I really have been busy with friends, family and college. I'll continue to write about games and so on, so keep checking my page to see what's new. Other than technology, I always been a fan of Top Lists. I get so curious and I can watch/read them all day. That's why I'll be bringing more of this in the upcoming future, in addition to game/movie reviews and a lot more. This is a spoiler free list so don't worry. Sidenote this is my personal opinion and I have not watch every single summer movie so sorry if your movie is not on this list. With that said, Lets get started.

5. Chef
I didn't know this movie till it came out. I thought it would be just a regular boring movie because I work in a movie theater and when I exit greet guests, almost 70% of them are old people. However, after watching this movie I was dead wrong. The story is basically about a chef who ruined his reputation and climbed back to the top with the help of his sous chef and his son. The story is somewhat of a cliché but it is done in a great, funny way. The food alone in this movie made this my number 5 pick. I dare you to watch this movie without getting hungry. The only real thing I hate about this movie is that it feels so short. I left the theater wanting more.

4. How to Train Your Dragon 2
Hiccup and Toothless is back to save his village from the dragons and their master. The first movie in this series goes to my all time favorite animated movies of all time and I was scared when they announced that they will make a sequel because I don't know how will they top the first one. DreamWorks surprised me by giving us a new character that is close to Hiccup's life. This person is downright BADASS. Their is a couple of other surprises in this movie that made me happy or sad and I really suggest watching it.

3. X-Men: Days of Future Past
I wasn't really much a X-Men fan but after watching First Class. I was on board. I'm a fan of James McAvoy (Professor X) and Michael Fassbender (Magneto), they are my highlights of this movie. In my personal opinion, the movie would not have work without these two even though the movie have a great story. The action scene in this movie is so flawless and not to mention funny, props to Quicksilver. The only negative comment I have in this movie is that of Kitty's new power. I don't read comics so I do not know if she posses that type of ability already but it threw me off. Nonetheless the movie is fantastic and I definitely suggest watching this.

2. Guardians of the Galaxy
I do not know who the Guardians are so I had mixed feelings about this movie. I was afraid that they will be like the "fake" Avengers but at the same time I'm confident that Marvels will pull it off. Guess what, they did. I didn't know this movie will be this great. I watched this movie and not once I compared them to any Avengers, they are their own person and I prefer their own personal story. Other than the fantastic story, action scene, and soundtrack, the movie is very funny mostly thanks to Starlord, Groot, and Rocket Raccoon. The villain, however, is ehh. He did a great job but it was pretty weak on some parts. I have the same comment for Batista but he's not originally an actor so I totally understand. I cannot wait for Guardians of the Galaxy 2

1. Dawn of the Planet of the Apes
I kept flipping between #2 and #1 because they are both an amazing movie. I went into this movie blind, meaning I have not watched the first movie or even the trailer. I truly enjoy this movie from the very beginning to the very end. I was so engaged and not once I like zoned out and thought that this part is weak. The only reason I pick this as my #1 is because I can't predict what's going to happen. The movie kept me guessing and I have not watch a movie like this in a very very long time. The story is touching and the casts are perfect. Everything in this movie is perfect in my opinion. I even love the apes' one liners. The movie length is perfect, not too long and not too short. This is best movie of the summer of 2014 and I recommend it everyone, even if you haven't watch the first one.

Honorable Mentions: Godzilla, Edge of Tomorrow, 22 Jump Street, and The Fault in our Stars
